Designing retail schemes for use on board rather than on dry land brings unique challenges. In the first instance all fixtures have to be bolted down and any freestanding merchandise has to have a level of encasement. Low ceilings are also an issue and any scheme needs to create a sense of spaciousness. The brief from P&O was created to revitalise their ageing cross-channel fleet.
Clear category navigation was achieved using variation in colour, graphics and materials. Each merchandise zone had a launch hub, to promote new products, special price initiatives etc.
