Photographer Roni Gendler was born in Israel and spent most of her childhood in Austin, TX. Witnessing and documenting the world marks a priority in her life, as she has visited several countries in both Western and Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Islands.
Hailing from the University of Texas, Roni completed a B.S. degree in Journalism and a minor in French. During her freshman year, Roni played the main character in a French play, "La Poudre Aux Yeuxî" (Dust in your Eyes). However, it was her passion for photography that led her to work three years at the Daily Texan where she worked as a photographer and editor, while enrolled in challenging and time-intensive courses.
Photography fuels her day, as it is the first thing she thinks about when she wakes up, and consequently manifests itself, as Roni will drive around the city with one clear focus on task: to shoot a compelling photo.
Roni shoots film and digital Canon and Hasselblad cameras and uses Alien Bees moonlights. She is competent in using both PC and Macintosh computers as she has one of each. As an active member of the National Press Photographers Association, and regularly attending clinics and conferences, Roni makes it a priority to remain updated and informed in photography.
She currently works as a staff photographer for The Victoria Advocate; a daily newspaper with a circulation of over 50,000. She was a winner of the National Geographic competition for her picture of a mime in Prague.
